A video has surfaced claiming to show a mother who heard her daughter had been bullying a bald cancer patient taking extreme measures to punish her.
The woman is filmed shaving her daughter’s hair, reportedly as a punishment.
The girl covers her face and screams as large clumps of hair fall to the floor.
A caption on the video says: ‘This girl bullied another girl at her school who has cancer so her mum decided to shave her head.’
However, it is not known if this is the case, because the video appears to have been uploaded earlier in the year with a different description.
That video was purported to have been uploaded because the younger woman had uploaded nude images online, and some of the comments after the new video seem to corroborate this version of events.
The voices in the video seem to be Portuguese, but the audio is poor and cannot be interpreted accurately.
Whichever account is true, if people do not believe that shaving the girl’s head and posting the video on social media was an appropriate punishment.
One person said: ‘Parents need to stop posting their children’s humiliation on the internet.’
Another said a better way to handle the situation, if indeed she had been bullying a child with cancer, would have been to educate the girl.
‘When my brother was little, he was a fire bug and would light things on fire,’ Shannon S says on YouTube. ‘Our parents took him to the fire department and they sat him down and explained what could happen if fire got out of control and showed him pics of burned houses and things.
‘He stopped after he saw what could happen. This mom should have taken the daughter to a St Jude cancer ward and let her see the children who have cancer and what the parents and children go through to try and beat cancer.
‘Have her volunteer at a hospital or take her to a hospice where people are dying with terminal cancer.
‘That would have sunk in so much more then shaving her head, hair can grow back.’
